Joint Seminar in Istanbul Discusses Principles of Responsible Science


The training seminar on Responsible Science has been organized at Marmara University to promote the international standards of responsible conduct of research and active learning. The activity was realized on May 20-21, 2016 under the cooperation between US National Academy of Sciences’ Middle East and North Africa Educational Institute on Responsible Science (NAS MENA III), the Faculty of Political Science of Marmara University and the Middle East Development Network [MDN].

MDN President and international lecturer at Marmara University Murat Daoudov designed and implemented the seminar program that focused on the latest developments and standards in the field. Applying the curriculum of NAS MENA III, the group studied and discussed the principles of responsible science, issues of authorship, plagiarism, fabrication and falsification while applying the techniques of active teaching.

Graduate and undergraduate students from Turkey, Kosovo, Tunisia, Algeria, Indonesia, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan have been selected for the program implemented in English. The successful participants were awarded joint participation certificate by NAS, MU and MDN.
